Senior Exam Schedule
Wednesday, May 24 - 4th & 5th hour exams (all seniors must be in attendance for 1st, 2nd & 3rd hour)
Thursday, May 25- 2nd & 3rd hour exams (all in attendance 1st hour, those taking exams are released after the completion of 3rd period)
Friday, May 26 - 1st hour exam (seniors are released after the exam)
All seniors are required to be in class unless they are exempt from the exam. If a student is exempt from the exam, they are still required to attend any regularly scheduled class prior to the exam period. In the event that a student does not attend class, they will be marked absent and will lose credit for any work (completed that day or previously due) not turned in.
Senior Exemption Procedure
The process has changed for the class of 2017. Instead of requiring students to sign up ahead of time, we are assuming all seniors would prefer to be exempt from their third trimester exams. In that case, on Tuesday, May 16th, the main office we run a report to determine which students meet the attendance criteria. For a student to be exempt, they must have two (2) absences and two (2) tardies or less. If a student has three (3) absences or three (3) tardies (or more) then they would no longer be eligible for exam exemption.
Once the main office has determined which students are eligible based on attendance, we will run a second filter to determine student grades. If a student has maintained a B- or better in their class, he/she will be exempt from the final exam. If a student has a grade in the C (+/-) range, he/she will have the opportunity to speak with their teacher to determine if the grade may changed over the weekend. A student's sheet will be highlighted in yellow if an hour is eligible for a teacher override. If a course is blacked out, that hour is not eligible for exam exemption.
Once the student's have obtained their exam exemption sheets, they will take the form home to be signed by a parent/guardian. If a parent/guardian signature is not provided or if the sheet is not turned in on Thursday, May 18th, then a student is required to take any final exams that are part of their classes. Teacher's will be provided a final list of eligible students and the hours they have been exempt from by Thursday evening.
