McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
Holly Area Schools, in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, will ensure that homeless children and youth in transition have access to a free and appropriate public education, including preschool, and be given a full opportunity to participate in state and district-wide assessments and accountability systems.
A student may be considered eligible for services if they are:
- Staying with friends or family temporarily
- Living in a motel or hotel
- Staying in a shelter or transitional housing
- Living in a car
- Staying in a park or public place
- Living in an abandoned building
- Staying at a bus or train station
- Living in unsafe or substandard housing
- Staying at a campground
- Staying in a hospital
The Board of Education has designated Sydney Sinclair as the School District’s Coordinator under the Homeless Assistance Act.
