Superintendent's Welcome

Dear HAS Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2018 - 19 school year.  Holly Area Schools is a community where children dream, explore, learn, and achieve under the guidance of a network of caring parents, support staff and dedicated teachers.

Holly Area Schools serves 124 square miles in northwest Oakland County with accredited programs for childcare, pre-K, GSRP (age 4), Young 5s, four elementary schools (Holly, Patterson, Davisburg, and Rose Pioneer), Holly Middle School, Holly High School and the Karl Richter Campus.  Holly Area Schools is proud to have earned the highly prized AdvancED Systems Accreditation in 2017, ensuring a challenging and engaging educational experience for your children.

The students at Holly Area Schools have access to a state-of-the-art standards based aligned curriculum, engaging instructional technology, and a full complement of clubs and extracurricular activities.  We are a leader in using technology and innovative programs to prepare our students for the skills and jobs of the future.  Upon leaving HHS at graduation, students are well-prepared for their next phase in life and ultimately a successful career as a productive contributing citizen.  What can a Holly Area Schools graduate do?  Anything they can dream of!  Our graduates include entrepreneurs, doctors, dentists, college professors, military experts, skilled trades, nurses, teachers, scientists, engineers and much more.

Holly Area Schools is a wonderful school district with outstanding students and a very dedicated staff.  It truly takes the concentrated efforts of an entire community of students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and community members to support and sustain a stimulating learning environment that supports achievement in academics, athletics, and arts.  But, it also takes ongoing dedication to build and sustain a culture of kindness, compassion, and respect.  I look forward to working with you on fostering a positive, nurturing environment that will help all Bronchos achieve and succeed.

This school year we are announcing new, diverse programs that will help prepare students for success in the future.

These programs include:

● “Leader in Me,” an innovative leadership approach teaching students lifelong skills, has now been expanded across the district.  All four elementary schools and the middle school will now be Leader in Me schools.

● STEM classes will be in all four elementary schools providing our youngest Bronchos with the skills to one day compete for 21st century jobs.

● Dual Enrollment Education Partnership with the University of Michigan-Flint will allow eligible HAS students earn college credit while in high school.

All of these opportunities and many more, continue to make Holly an exceptional place to learn, grow, and inspire.

Thank you for helping to make Holly Area Schools a great place to learn and achieve!

Warm Regards,

Scott M. Roper
