Superintendent's Welcome

August 10, 2026

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff of Holly Area Schools,

Our Broncho students, parents and staff are gearing up for an exciting 2026-2027 school year!

Thanks to a summer filled with opportunities for our students, staff and families to learn, grow, connect and recharge, our Bronchos will return refreshed and ready for an amazing school year ahead.

Excitement for the new year is already building, and we’ve had a great early start with our annual Health & Enrollment Fair. Over 725 attendees joined us on August 1st for a tremendous day of connection and service. Our team distributed over 400 backpacks and bags filled with school supplies!! Nearly 45 sports physicals, over 40 haircuts, 45 vision screenings, 25 dental screenings, and over 500 lunches were provided to help our families get ready for the school year.  A heartfelt thank you to our Broncho staff and 30+ community partners for supporting our Holly families.

At Holly Area Schools, we are committed to helping all Bronchos achieve, succeed and prepare for the in-demand careers of today and tomorrow, including over summer. Students attending this summer’s learning programs, including our Camp Innovation, Lit Camp, Camp Explorer, Broncho Boost, Summer Reading Program, and/or credit recovery, made tremendous progress toward their academic goals. Congratulations to our students and families and a big Broncho “thank you” to our outstanding and dedicated staff who led our summer programs.

I also want to congratulate district and building administrators and our office staff for earning their CPR and first-aid certification this summer through a training led by HAS Nurse Jessica Morantes. The training was part of the district’s next steps in helping ensure all building staff are prepared to fully support Broncho students, staff and families in the case of an emergency.

Our students, families and staff will notice many improvements and upgrades across the district when they return to school, including:

  • Holly High School Auditorium upgrades including a new stage floor, stage curtains, lighting, sound controls and carpet, creating an enhanced environment for our student performers
  • New Holly Stadium ticket booth to improve access to our Broncho events
  • New Holly High School fire alarm system
  • Playground equipment updates at many of our elementary sites and security fencing where needed
  • New gym flooring at Holly Elementary, Rose Pioneer and Patterson elementary schools to be consistent with our gym at Davisburg Elementary

As we prepare to start the new school year, I’d like to remind our Broncho students and families to take advantage of our parent outreach program that further extends our partnership with parents and caregivers in supporting a positive, nurturing learning environment that helps all Bronchos achieve and succeed.

A new school year cannot happen without the hard work of our Broncho Staff. Everyone from maintenance, custodial, transportation, technology, office staff and building administration have been laser-focused and committed to preparing for the new school year.

Please join me in welcoming all our staff and students, especially new staff and new students to our amazing Broncho community.

Finally, I want to remind our families that the Holly Safety, Security and School Improvement Bond Proposal will appear on the Tuesday, Nov. 3, ballot. This no-tax-rate increase proposal would provide funding to improve safety and security and help support every stage of student development — from early childhood through college and career readiness.

There has truly never been a better time to be a Broncho, and I can’t wait to see our amazing Bronchos when they return to school on Monday, Aug. 31

Sincerely,

Scott M. Roper, Superintendent
