Dear Families and Residents of Holly Area Schools,

Holly Area Schools is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in our ongoing commitment to lifelong learning, wellness, and community engagement. The north portion of the Sherman Campus will soon be home to the new Holly Community Enrichment Center.

While final updates and renovations are still underway, we wanted to share this exciting news and begin building enthusiasm for what lies ahead. The Center will serve as a welcoming hub that supports learning, connection, and enrichment opportunities for residents of all ages.

We are also pleased to announce that Laura Oldaugh will serve as Director of the Holly Community Enrichment Center. Many in our community know Laura through her longstanding involvement in local organizations and civic initiatives. She previously served for many years as an administrative assistant at Holly Area Schools and brings valuable experience from the private sector, municipal government, and public education. She is a graduate of Baker Junior College of Business.

Laura’s dedication to our community has had a meaningful impact on both youth and adults. She serves on the Kaleidoscope Foundation and is active with the George Washington Club and the Holly Alumni Committees. For more than 15 years, she served as the district’s parent representative for students receiving special education services through Oakland Schools ISD. During that time, she also organized disability workshops for parents and planned numerous inclusive events for adults with disabilities, including dances, bingo nights, movie events, summer games, picnics, and holiday celebrations. She has also continued supporting district athletic programs by working events and engaging with students and families.

Laura is enthusiastic about stepping into this new leadership role and looks forward to shaping the vision for the Center. One of her first priorities will be establishing a Community Enrichment Center Advisory Committee to help review programming, identify new opportunities, and provide input on community needs.

The Holly Community Enrichment Center is envisioned as a place that will:

  • Expand wellness and recreational opportunities for residents
  • Support senior citizens through accessible programs and meaningful social connections
  • Foster creativity and innovation through local enrichment classes
  • Strengthen partnerships with higher education and workforce development organizations
  • Encourage collaboration and civic engagement across our community

Additional updates will be shared later this spring as renovations are completed and plans for the official opening are finalized.

We look forward to the positive impact this new Center will have on our students, families, and the greater Holly community. Thank you for your continued support of Holly Area Schools.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Roper, Superintendent
