Holly Broncho Marching Band claims three invitational championships
Bronchos capture Class B title at Brandon-Ortonville, earn straight Division 1 MSBOA Festival ratings

HOLLY, Mich. — Months of rehearsals, countless steps across the football field and a shared commitment to excellence came together in an outstanding October for the Holly Broncho Marching Band.

The Bronchos captured first place in their class at three invitationals, earned top honors in multiple performance categories and received straight Division 1 ratings at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Marching Band Festival.

The band’s successful run began Oct.10 at the Chippewa Valley Invitational, where Holly claimed first place in its class. On Oct. 13, the Bronchos earned straight Division 1 ratings at the MSBOA Marching Band Festival at Swartz Creek High School, recognizing the quality of their performance in the festival setting.

Holly continued its winning streak on Oct. 17 at the Troy Athens Invitational, taking first place in its class and earning the Best Marching and Best Percussion caption awards. The band also achieved the highest marching performance score of any band at the competition site, a standout accomplishment reflecting the precision and coordination of the students’ performance.

The Bronchos brought their invitational season to a memorable close on Oct. 24 at the Brandon-Ortonville Scholastic Marching Band Invitational at Brandon High School, capturing the Class B championship with a score of 86.7. Holly finished 1.1 points ahead of runner-up Farmington High School Marching Band and earned first-place rankings in music performance, music effect, marching performance and visual effect. The band also received Awards of Excellence in music, marching, percussion and color guard.

For band director Ben Baldwin, the results reflect the growth and commitment of the students throughout the season.

“I am incredibly proud of the work these students have put into this season,” Baldwin said. “Their dedication, teamwork and discipline are evident in every rehearsal and performance. Seeing their hard work translate into these accomplishments is a wonderful reflection of the commitment these students bring to the program.”

Holly Area Schools Superintendent Scott Roper praised the band’s success and the positive example its members set for the school community.

“Our students continue to demonstrate what can be accomplished through hard work, collaboration and a commitment to excellence,” Roper said. “We are very proud of the Broncho Marching Band, which demonstrates Broncho Pride on and off the competition field.”

Holly Area Schools congratulates the students, directors and staff on an exceptional season and thanks the families, volunteers and supporters who help make the band’s success possible.
