Elementary Volunteer and Event Update

Stakeholder and family inclusion in the education of our children is foundational to the mission of Holly Area Schools.

Dear Elementary Broncho Families,

Stakeholder and family inclusion in the education of our children is foundational to the mission of Holly Area Schools.  The past eighteen months have created unique challenges to ensure that all students receive safe and inclusive learning experiences.  Over the past four to five months, we have been able to re-engage our students and families with inclusive events such as Holly High School Graduation at DTE, Fifth Grade Celebrations, the HAS Enrollment Fair, Open Houses, Homecoming and Halloween activities, and multiple sporting events.

Our goal is to continue implementing safe, collaborative educational experiences for our families at all levels. While some of these events may look slightly different in order to ensure social distancing and safety, we are confident in our ability to balance student safety with family inclusivity. As we look forward, we are excited to begin re-establishing the following activities:

  • Parent Committee (PTO/PTA) meetings and collaborative discussions/planning with parent partners around things such as popcorn days and other important school events.  We place a high value and priority on this collaborative relationship and look forward to continued dialogue.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences.  An unintended positive consequence of the recent past has shown us the value in providing options for parent teacher conferences.  Elementary fall conferences will continue to offer options for parents to choose whether to engage in Google Meets (virtual), phone conversations or in-person conferences during the week of October 18th.  Your child’s teacher will send more details regarding how to sign up for fall parent teacher conferences.
  • Parent Volunteers.  We will begin to invite volunteers back into our buildings to help provide students with quality learning opportunities and staff support.  Our volunteers will follow all county and school health and safety protocols when supporting classrooms and will not be working in close proximity with students in order to help us minimize any close contact. We are excited to be able to reintroduce this level of collaboration with our families. Teachers will communicate any volunteer opportunities with their classroom families as they arise.
  • If you need to meet with your teacher, please continue to make a mutually agreeable appointment with staff members, when an in-person meeting is necessary.

We value our relationship with you and look forward to growing together as we continue to make our students’ learning environment as safe and inclusive as possible.

Thank you for your involvement!

Sincerely,

HAS Elementary Principals
