HOLLY, Mich. — Senior members of the Broncho Varsity Football Team got an up-close and personal look at the Detroit Lions Training Camp and received sage advice from Coach Dan Campbell during a recent visit to the Lions’ Allen Park training facility. The event was part of the Broncho football program’s continued efforts to expose players to new experiences outside the high school gridiron.

“The Detroit Lions Training Camp was a truly unique opportunity for our senior Broncho football players to witness an NFL training session in action and receive some professional advice from Coach Campbell,” said William “Billy” Keenist Jr., Broncho Varsity Football coach. “I’m committed to building strong relationships with our players, and this was an experience they will never forget.”

The July 30 visit to the Lions’ Training Camp was made possible in part by Keenist’s connection with the team: His father worked in the Lions’ communications department from 1985 to 2021. Since taking the reins of the Broncho football team in 2022, Keenist has organized an activity each summer that exposes senior players to professional athletics. In 2022, senior Broncho football players attended a Detroit Tigers game, and in 2023 they visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio.

“I would like to personally thank both the Detroit Lions organization and Coach Keenist for making this extraordinary event possible for our senior Bronchos as they prepare for the upcoming football season,” said Scott Roper, Holly Area Schools superintendent.“This exclusive opportunity demonstrates our district’s continued commitment to athletics as part of a well-rounded education that helps prepare our Bronchos for success.”
