HOLLY, Mich. — Two Holly High School graduates and standout athletes have been named to the 2026 Broncho Hall of Fame, demonstrating outstanding achievement and leadership on the competition field, in the classroom and beyond.

Allyssa Copley and Anthony Gonzales were inducted into the Broncho Hall of Fame on Jan. 30 in a ceremony at halftime of the varsity boys home basketball game against Fenton. Earlier that day, Copley and Gonzales were honored with a luncheon at the Deer Lake Inn in Clarkston.

“The induction of Allyssa and Anthony into the Broncho Hall of Fame is well deserved and I congratulate them on their amazing athletic and academic achievements while at Holly and beyond,” said Casey Lombard, the district’s athletic director. “These outstanding athletes truly demonstrate Broncho Pride and inspire our younger Bronchos to get involved in our athletic programs and experience the thrill and camaraderie of competition.”

Gonzales is a 2013 Holly High School graduate and became a star wrestler his freshman year. That year, Gonzales advanced to the state finals, where he won the title in a match recalled as one of the most exciting in school history. He won the title again as a junior, and very nearly repeated as a senior when he finished in sixth place and won his fourth All-State honor, finishing with a season record of 52-6.

The Holly alum continued his education at Northern Michigan University, Cleary University and Rochester Christian University where he had a successful collegiate wrestling career. He graduated with honors from Rochester with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and continues to coach and referee wrestling. Gonzales currently lives in Rochester, Michigan, with his wife, Meredith, and works at Frank Rewold & Sons as a project manager.

Copley distinguished herself on the basketball court and in track as a Broncho. She was a four-year starter for the Broncho girls basketball team and improved every year. In her senior year, she posted a total of 305 points, 207 rebounds, 82 assists, 62 blocks and 61 steals. Her achievements on the court as a senior helped the Bronchos finish the regular season 20-0 and led to a Flint Metro League title, Michigan High School Athletic Association district title, and making it to the regional semi-finals.

In track and field, Copley was a member of three Flint Metro League championship teams. During her senior year, she captured both the Flint Metro League and Oakland County championships in the shot put, set the school record in the event, and went on to place fifth at the state meet.

After graduating from Holly, Copley attended Cleveland State University on a basketball scholarship, and won a national championship after she transferred to Rochester Christian University. She earned a master’s degree in 2022, currently works as a planner at KLA, and coaches girls basketball at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory High School. She lives in Walled Lake with her husband, Austin, and their son, Emmett.

“Allyssa and Anthony represent what Broncho Pride is all about, and we are so excited to induct them into the Hall of Fame,” said Scott Roper, Holly Area Schools superintendent. “Their continued success demonstrates the key role athletics play in a well-rounded education that helps prepare our Bronchos for success and bright figures.”
