Update from Gov. Whitmer regarding mask requirements and vaccine availability.

May 14, 2021

Dear Holly Area Schools Families,

Today Gov. Whitmer released a new statement that starting May 15 at 9 a.m., all outdoor masking requirements will be suspended, and vaccinated Michiganders will no longer need to wear masks indoors.  Unvaccinated individuals ages 5 and up will still be required to wear masks indoors (while still making a good faith effort for 2-5-year-olds).  With this announcement, we have requested specific information as it pertains to school districts.

From our inquiries, we have been told that MDHHS is currently updating their guidance and procedures for schools as it pertains to this lift in mask requirements.  We will update our families and staff next week as this information becomes available to us.

For any questions related to the current quarantine and mask requirements, please find the contact information for Oakland County Health Department at https://www.oakgov.com/covid/Pages/default.aspx

We would also like to announce new information regarding vaccination availability in our area.

The Food and Drug Administration said Monday that children 12 to 15 years old are now eligible to receive a key COVID-19 vaccine as the agency expanded its emergency use authorization for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Attached to this letter is a QR Code and link for our families to receive information for a Walgreens location nearest to them to get vaccinated.

Please continue to check our district website for updates regarding our Return to Learn Plan.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Roper, Superintendent
