Holly Area Schools announces schedule of voter-approved bond projects
Construction plan includes new learning opportunities for all Bronchos
HOLLY, Mich. — Holly Area Schools today announced a four-year schedule to complete new and enhanced learning environments, districtwide building and site improvements, and safety upgrades through the voter-approved $97 million bond. Each of the projects is being designed to help prepare all Bronchos for bright futures with no tax rate increase to property owners.
“At Holly Area Schools, we take our responsibility to manage tax dollars seriously, and we thank our amazing community for making this investment in the success of all Bronchos,” said Scott Roper, Holly Area Schools superintendent. “We are excited to announce our four-year schedule to complete these critical improvements to help prepare all Bronchos for the competitive modern workforce.”
The 2022 Bond projects include:
- A new middle school with increased classroom space, career lab, enhanced fine arts and athletic facilities,
- Enhanced learning environments districtwide, including fine arts, athletics and instructional technology, and a new construction trades center at the high school, and
- Replacement of worn playground structures and septic systems, new fire protection upgrades and additional safety improvements.
The 2022 Bond projects will go through several phases including design, state approval, bidding and construction. Preparations are underway for each of the projects, including meetings with architects, engineers, construction managers and facility consultants. The project team reviewed several factors in developing the project schedule, including:
- Reviewing the status of remaining/past-useful-life equipment, systems and materials
- Identifying buildings with largest-scale projects
- Maximizing on-site time of contractors
- Creating awareness of districtwide equity issues
- Determining available bond funds in each series
2022 initial launch of projects
- Davisburg Elementary and Rose Pioneer Elementary septic system
- Tennis courts
- Public announcement system, sound and clock systems
- Replacement of West Lot High School parking lot and bus loop
- Design process begins Summer 2022
- Anticipated start of construction: Summer 2023
- Targeted project completion: Fall 2023
High School Construction Trades Center and Marching Band Practice Field
- Design process begins Summer 2022
- Anticipated start of construction: Fall 2023
- Targeted project completion: Winter 2024
(New) Holly Middle School at Karl Richter Campus
- Design process begins Summer 2022
- Anticipated start of construction: Fall 2023
- Targeted project completion: Fall 2025
Relocation of district administration offices to Sherman Campus
- Anticipated move date: Summer/Fall 2025

Planning for each of the large-scale bond projects will begin approximately one year before construction, including programming, schematic design, design development, final construction documents and state review. During the design phase of select projects, building principals and directors will seek input from students, staff and parents. Check the 2022 Bond Information and Updates page for updates.
“These projects will help us continue providing all students with new and diverse learning opportunities that equip them with real-life skills for in-demand careers,” Roper said. “Throughout this process, we will incorporate input from our students, families and staff as we embark on these projects that will enhance our ability to prepare our Bronchos for the jobs of tomorrow.”
