Safety Update

Suspicious Vehicle - Monday October 24th

October 25, 2022

Dear Holly Area Schools Families,

The safety and well-being of our students, staff and families is our top priority.

It has recently come to our attention that yesterday, Monday, Oct. 24, a suspicious vehicle and person was observed in a driveway of a home near Patterson Elementary. The vehicle was a full size, brown car driven by a white male. One of the district’s and Village of Holly PD’s crossing guards approached the vehicle to talk with the driver. The driver reported that his vehicle was broken down and he was waiting for a tow.

After the homeowner came out of the house to also verify everything was ok, the driver quickly sped away. The crossing guard communicated the situation with one of our district’s SRO police officers. Local Holly Police units have been advised.

There is no information or evidence regarding any threat to the safety and welfare of our students. We are contacting our families out of an abundance of caution.

This situation is another reminder for students and families to report any suspicious activity of any kind on school grounds or at our bus stops to police, their building principal or district administration.

We also ask that our parents please remind their children of the following safety tips:

  • Try to avoid walking to and from school and the bus stop alone
  • If your child sees anything suspicious, call 911
  • Never talk to or take anything from strangers
  • Keep enough distance from strangers so they are unable to touch

Working together, we will continue to make Holly Area Schools a safe place for our Bronchos to learn, grow and thrive.

Sincerely,

Scott Roper, Superintendent Holly Area Schools
